The Role:
As an Accountant at CLBC, you will be responsible for complex analysis of general ledger accounts, preparing reports for management, preparing journal entries and ensures revenues and expenses are accounted for accurately. You will also be responsible for administering the IF program, preparing related financial reports, working with CLBC staff to resolve reporting and financial issues, maintaining the Financial Authority Registry, and other related duties.

This will include:

  • Supervises the GL team in the absence of the Manager, Accounting Services and Senior Accountant and provides leadership to the AP team
  • Implements new processes and procedures to correctly capture accounting information
  • Ensures timely and accurate close of the general ledger and timely compliance of reporting to the board, management, all government organizations and service providers.
  • Ensures month-end tasks are completed on time and with accuracy by the accounting services staff.
  • Prepares complex bank reconciliations and analysis.
  • Prepares cash forecasts and highlights concerns/issues related to cash flow.
  • Ensures financial reports are timely, accurate, consistent and meet the requirements of CLBC and the Office of the Comptroller General (OCG).
  • Prepares audit working papers internal and external audits and provides assistance to the auditor as required.
  • Reconciles complex general ledger accounts by performing tasks such as reviewing and confirming transactions, following up on anomalies and taking corrective action by preparing journal entries.
  • Creates and maintains a variety of spreadsheets for purposes such as tracking capital assets payments to budgeted expenses; tracking payments by contractors; tracking employee travel expenses and payroll expenses.
  • Reconciles complex general ledger accounts related to the IF program by performing tasks such as reviewing and confirming transactions, following up on anomalies and taking corrective action by preparing journal entries.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
  • Five year's recent related experience
  • Preparing financial statements
  • Experience with Computerized accounting software, payroll software and other computerized systems
  • Experiencing supervising staff
  • Intermediate level MS Excel and MS Word skills
  • Expertise in financial planning, analysis and reporting

Classification/Salary: Financial Officer R24 - Starts at $65,252 annually plus a 6.6% market adjustment
