The Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC) is the designated tertiary care mental health service for individuals aged 14 years and older who have a developmental disability and a concurrent mental illness or behavioural concern. PAC provides multi-disciplinary and specialized inpatient assessment and treatment for dually diagnosed individuals. PAC is located at Healing Spirit House in Coquitlam.

The Role:

In collaboration with the Director, as Clinical Operations Leader you will be jointly responsible for providing clinical leadership and supervision to all direct care staff. Key duties include:

  • Monitor direct care services
  • Manage financial budgets and complete financial forecasts
  • Approve overtime and staffing levels
  • Complete performance reviews up to and including employee discipline/dismissal, continuously evaluating unit clinical practice and contributing to the development of practice knowledge by evaluating research and developing frameworks and strategies to facilitate the implementation of best practices
  • Manage the recruitment and hiring of staff
  • Promote positive team development and teamwork within and across all disciplinary professional groups
  • Oversee scheduling and the interpretation and application of the collective agreements in day to day practice
  • Act on behalf of the Director in his / her absence, including participation in the leadership afterhours on-call rotation
  • Support the planning, development and implementation of clinical policies and programs designed for improving client care
  • Support the flow of clients through the program to ensure a smooth transition

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in health sciences. A Masters degree is preferred
  • 5 years of recent related clinical experience in the designated clinical area, including 3 years of recent supervisory experience
  • Current practicing registration with professional College (i.e. CRPNBC, CRNBC, OT, etc.)
  • Class 5 Driver's License
  • Previous experience working with individuals who have an intellectual disability and mental health needs.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical and supervisory experience in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Effective leadership skills and the ability to interpret and apply the collective agreements Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other pertinent legislation
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to support clinical practice issues

Suitability is assessed on the basis of an applicant's physical and emotional health, education background, life experiences, and the ability to work with others.

Shifts: 8:00am-4:00pm Monday to Friday

This is an auxiliary position. Auxiliaries may be hired for project work, or to cover vacancies or leaves of varying lengths.
Term: Anticipated term until September 2023
